Travel on and around the island is easy. For twenty five cents for most trips and up to $1 for longer rides, travel by Aiga (pronouced Eye-Ing-a) bus. For travel to the outer islands of American Samoa -- that is, Ofu, Olasinga, and Ta'u -- the lifeline is a small local airline called Samoa Air. Flying DeHavilland DHC-6 Twin Otters carrying 18 passengers, these rugged, safe turboprop airplanes fly to the outer islands as well as to Western Samoa several times a day. Their faster, sleeker Beechcraft King Air flies to the Kingdom of Tonga, Niue, Fiji, and other destinations. Aircraft are also available for charter to such places as Guam, Saipan, Tinean, and Roratonga. Call (684)699-9106 for reservation and scheduling information or email Samoa Air.
